So that we can have tasty herbs all winter long I’ve brought in some fresh from the yard. The previous owner of our home must have loved Basil. There is a patch about 3 feet by 5 feet near our raspberry bush. It’s amazing.

There is bit of mint traveling into our back yard from under the fence as well. I have been using it in my cooking ever since I discovered it about 2 months ago.

My tea light monkey is now playing understudy to a drying rack and holding the mint, basil, and some parsley given to me by a friend. In a few days it will all be dry enough to crush and save in my glass jars.

I dug a bunch of both the basil and mint to put in pots on the porch. I have planned to pull and till down all of those old beds but the one my veggies are growing in so that I can plant grass and hopefull put in invisible fence (or get a real fence) for Sherman, our  huge dog. Now I have chamomile, mint and basil in pots. I’m surprised the chamomile is alive since Olivia has tossed the pot into the yard off the deck twice now. I hope she’s past that phase…

Wow! I would have thought of me in that store, too. It looks awesome!

I’ll have to remember that the next time I’m down in OBX. Thanks so much for sharing, Rachel.
