Happy Birthday Elise

Two short years. Two long years. Two wonderful years!

We made these yummy cup cakes. “We” being Olivia, Elise and I. I was hosting our families on a Sunday after church for a dinner and party, so I made things easy on myself and used a Betty Crocker boxed cake. I substitued milk for water when mixing the cake, which I think gave it a richer taste.

I have totally given up on ready made frosting, for so many reasons. The primary reason is that you can’t color it or decorate with it. It’s way to thin and drippy! So I am always making a butter cream frosting in the KitchenAid and adding coloring or chocolate to it. This time I did both. Elise is already a chocolate addict and she’s only just turned two. Things are going to be bad when she is celebrating her Sweet Sixteen! I might not even waste my time with a cake and go straight for a bar of baker’s chocolate that year.

Well, anyway we had a wonderful wonderful party. And we are so thankful for all who came and all the gifts we were showered with. Elise is loving them all (and so is big sister).

OH my goodness! I don’t have any babies in my house anymore. I never thought that would happen, but here I am, the mother of two little ladies. They are so sweet!
